Are You a Saltaholic?

Are you a saltaholic? I have been accused of being one for many years. I would like to blame 20 pounds on salty water retention, but that my friends is really fried chicken (salty). The other extra 30 is just pure laziness that needs to be kicked in the rear…….. Salt! There are many references in the Bible about salt and I ran across one in my devotions this morning. “ Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” Colossians 4:6

We get to be SALTY?? That could be exciting to some of us who know the modern definition of the word. According the insight of Urban Dictionary, "salty," when used as a slang term, can be used to describe someone who is "angry, agitated, or upset," as well as someone who is "mean, annoying, and repulsive." Uh oh! That is NOT God’s definition of SALTY! Let’s read Colossians again, “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” OUCH! Gracious and seasoned with salt are much different than angry, agitated and upset! I am guilty ten thousand times of allowing my flesh to take over my words instead of God’s spirit inside of me! Let’s work together this week! “God, please help us with gracious speech, seasoned with salt and help us give wise answers according to HIS WORD! Let us know when to remain silent and let YOUR SPIRIT speak instead.”
